Bellalie is a new type of collaboration founded by artist and textile designer Jordan Liepolt. It was created to honor and continue the legacy of her grandfather, Bill Bell.
Before his passing in 2012, Bell expressed his hope that his designs would not die with him. A successful fashion photographer who later transitioned into furniture design, Bell created bold, geometric pieces screen printed with vibrant patterns. His work extended beyond furniture into fabric and paper, resulting in colorful pillows, gift wrap, and fashion pieces. His designs became part of everyday life for his family, decorating rooms and holidays alike. This left a lasting impression on Jordan as an artist.
After studying textile design at RISD, Jordan realized how closely her own creative path reflected her grandfather’s. For years, she saved his original stencils, patterns, and pieces, unsure of how to use them. Bellalie is the answer to that question. It is a creative collaboration across generations.
Through illustrations and surface pattern designs, Bellalie brings new life to Bill Bell’s iconic work while telling the story of a shared artistic legacy rooted in color, joy, and bold expression.
